The kids have been off from preschool for the past two weeks for Spring Break. We've been trying to keep them entertained between the park, museum, jump place and any other fun places where they can run wild. We had parent-teacher conference prior to Spring Break and the kids all seem to be progressing right on track. They have really adapted well to being in school and the teacher was pleased with how well they participate in various preschool activities like circle time and show and tell. When they first started they school, they didn't have any real concept of following instructions with other kids or even small things like standing in line. It's been great to see how far they've come and they're definitely more comfortable around other kids. They've always been used to each other but sometimes they were very shy around other kids. Madeline is probably still our shyest child but she's come around quite nicely with interacting with other children. Now, when I take them on play dates with friends, they are so excited to play with other kids rather than stand shyly at my side. Preschool has definitely been key in helping them get out of their shells a bit, not to mention they have a blast with the other children and constantly talk about their friends at home.
Last month our dear nanny, Citlalli, left us to take a full time job a preschool here in Reno. We miss her so much. She started working with us when the kids were just 3 months old. We were so blessed to have her for the past 3 years but, we're very excited for her new job. She definitely got us through some of the busiest times with the kids, especially when they were babies and feeding every 3 hours around the clock. We are so happy for her new opportunity and know that the parents and kids at the preschool with love her as much as we do.
Our new nanny is Marie and she's been great with the kids, as well. She's been so wonderful about trying to get the kids on a more structured schedule during the day with meal times, quiet time and filling the extra time with lots of activities to keep them entertained. The kids really like her and are constantly showing me the different crafts they make with Marie. We feel so fortunate to have found another wonderful nanny.
We are looking forward to Grandpa Lanny and Grandma Lynn coming to Reno in June for their annual monthly stay. Seth and I want to put the kids in swim lessons so they can start feeling comfortable in the water. We're also thinking about enrolling the kids in gymnastics classes in order to help them burn off some extra energy. Keeping them busy is definitely the key to having smoother days. They tend to go stir crazy if they're in the house all day, so getting them in different activities is a must.
