Triple treat

Hello! Everything has been going good here in the Klein household. The high chairs are finally assembled and last week we introduced solid foods to the babies for the first time. It was a fun occasion! We started with rice cereal and all 3 babies seemed to like it (what food ended up in their mouths that is). As always, Madeline seemed to catch on the fastest. She quickly grasped the concept of the spoon and begin opening her mouth to food without much difficulty. Caleb really enjoyed the taste of the cereal but his darn tongue kept getting in the way and was pushing the food out of his mouth! Funny little guy. Mischa wasn't too impressed. She took a few nibbles but after that she was done and wanted out of her high chair. I started making their baby food at home and it's actually been pretty fun. As most of my family knows, I've never been much of a cook so this is a special occasion for me to actually prepare food. I'd much rather clean the kitchen than actually cook! Ha ha :) But I have to say, I'm actually impressed with myself. This week we moved on from rice cereal to a delicious pear puree and then a sweet potato puree...all prepared from scratch. The idea of making homemade baby food is actually wonderful and not as time consuming as I thought it would be...but then again these little munchkins are only taking a couple teaspoons of food each so the time consuming part might change as they begin to eat more! The best part of introducing solid foods to the babies is that they are all sleeping better at night! In this first week we have cut out one entire bottle feeding session at night which is wonderful for us parents. To our surprise, even Caleb, who never skips a feed at night, has been sleeping more than ever. We really didn't expect to see a change so quickly but by adding a solid food feeding in the evening, the babies seem to sleep longer at night which is fantastic! Another factor to them sleeping longer is the addition of kids blackout curtains to the nursery. Wow, these curtains really do work in keeping the room darker. Normally Caleb is up every morning as soon as the sunlight hits the room which at this time of year is as early as 5 am. However, with the curtains, he's sleeping in until 6:30 am...hallelujah!!

Not much else going on here. Here are pictures from the past couple of weeks. Hope you enjoy!

6 months old today!

It's official...the babies are half a year old now! Wow, the past 6 months have gone by really fast! Although the last 6 months have been challenging in many ways (sleep deprivation mostly), it's also been the most rewarding and enjoyable 6 months, as well. I recently read that parenting is "the best job but the hardest job" - SO true! Seth and I celebrated the babies turning 6 months old by scheduling a mini photo shoot with our favorite local photographer, Huong. She captured the most beautiful pictures of the babies as newborns so we knew she was the perfect person to take pictures of the babies now at 6 months old. We did the photo shoot at a local park here in Reno last Saturday. The first 15 minutes of pictures went good - no crying, babies all seemed pretty content, but then disaster struck and Madeline had a little bit of a meltdown...okay, actually a major meltdown with big crocodile tears, snot, red eyes, the whole nine yards. Seth and I have noticed that she does not like to be out and about very much. When we go to parks and take walks, she is content for about 30 minutes but then begins crying inconsolably. She doesn't do this at home so we've finally decided she's happiest at home. Caleb and Mischa on the other hand LOVE to be outside. In fact, they love all the attention they get from people, especially Caleb. We recently had some friends visit from San Diego and Seth and I mentioned to them that Caleb tends to be the fussiest baby (or the biggest cry baby as Seth puts it) and boy did he prove us wrong! He was an angel the entire weekend and our friends thought we were lying about Caleb! He sure knows when to flash those dimples! Anyways, we should be receiving our DVD with the professional photos in the next couple of weeks, so we will be sure to post pictures from that day here on the blog.

We are getting ready to introduce solid foods to the babies. First, we need to put together the 3 high chairs which are still in the garage in their boxes. Neither of us have had hardly any free time during the day to get to this task but hopefully we can this week. We recently purchased a baby cookbook and I'm looking forward to pureeing vegetables, fruits and grains for the babies. We can't wait to see their little faces when they take their first bites! We will be sure to post pictures from the day. Here are a couple of recent videos of the babies that Seth took. Since these videos are a bit big, Seth used the Box website to upload these videos so just click on the links below and then click on the download button to view each video. I will upload a few photos later today.

Our little munchkins

I am finally getting around to posting another blog entry. The triplets have been keeping us super busy. They are getting so big by the day. Just this past week, all three of them have started turning over from their backs to their stomachs and vice versa non stop! As soon as you lay them on the floor, they are constantly rolling over (which isn't so nice when you have wood floors). It's amazing how just a few weeks ago they would accidentally roll over and now they do it constantly. They are really enjoying their rattles, teething rings, and various other toys as they can purposely grab them now and instantly put them in their mouths.
As their 6 month birthday approaches, we are getting excited about starting solid foods. Our pediatrician recommended that we wait until they are 6 months old to start feeding them solids. We are just 2 weeks away and anticipating this momentous occasion. With three babies eating for the first time, we'll need bibs, floor mats, wall protectors, and lots of hand wipes! :) We will be sure to post pictures of them eating for the first time.
The babies still aren't quite sleeping through the night. Caleb absolutely refuses to skip a feed, no matter how tired his parents are. He doesn't like to go more than 4 hours at night without a bottle. His cry usually ends up waking up his sisters and suddenly they realize that they are hungry too! So, needless to say, we are hoping that the start of solid foods will lead to more sleep at night which means more sleep for us parents. Here are some recent pictures of the babies.

Spring fun

Hello there! I am finally getting around to posting a new blog entry. The babies are all doing really good and keeping us as busy as ever. In the past few weeks we have started noticing that the babies are really becoming aware of their environment and showing so much interest in toys. My mother-in-law purchased a jungle themed jumper and a baby walker and the babies all seem to love it. It's so adorable to see their faces light up with excitement when the toys make noises or the lights turn on. Their little personalities are really starting to shine through. Madeline definitely acts like the big sister. She seems to reach milestones a little sooner than Caleb and Mischa and she is still the calmest of the three. Caleb loves to be held and prefers to be in someone's arms at all times if he had it his way. Unfortunately, with triplets not everyone can be held at all times! Caleb really enjoys sitting in the bouncy chair and looking at the fish tank. Mischa has been giggling up a storm lately. It's so fun to tickle the babies and see them giggle. Seth and I have managed to take the babies out a few times now that the weather is warming up. It's great being outside with the babies although it requires a lot of planning as far as which stroller to bring, how many bottles of milk, how many diapers, etc. Last week we had a wonderful time with G.G visiting from San Francisco. She was a big help with the babies and she even bought new toys for the babies! Here are a few pictures from the past couple of weeks to show what we have been up to.

Seth and I have been taking advantage of the nice weather on the weekends and hitting up the park as much as possible. The babies seems to love being outside (as long as they have eaten and had their naps!)
